ELEVATIONS
The miniature houses in these pictures are my allegories for parcels of received wisdom. The symbolism is not particular (a white house is not purity of spirit) but rooted in the general sense of a home as haven from the unforgiving elements.
Each house represents a framework of concepts that might prove useful in coping with the chaos of existence. So, a pragmatic series of tests is underway. Each setting is a proving ground, a test site for a supposedly effective aid in fending off destruction; each house (be it a homely axiom or a fully developed system of beliefs) is being scrutinized for its utility. Does it truly offer refuge? Will it lend order to the chaos and shelter from the storm?
